Most implant work around Carol Stream is split in two: a surgical office places the post, someone else makes the tooth months later. Here, Dr. Henry Kim, DMD plans the case, places the implant, restores it and keeps caring for it at your checkups — about 10 minutes north up Bloomingdale Road, with the whole price in writing before anything starts.
A missing tooth is not just a gap. The bone that held the root starts shrinking within months, the neighbouring teeth drift, and a settled bite begins to move. An implant is the only replacement that puts a root back in the jaw, so it holds the bone instead of sitting on top of it.
It is usually right when a single tooth is gone and you do not want two healthy neighbours ground down for a bridge, when a bridge or partial has failed, or when a lower denture will not stay put. It is not right for everyone: if a tooth can be saved with a root canal and a crown, saving it beats replacing it. Full clinical detail is on our dental implants page.
Six questions worth asking anyone before you let them start.
We do not do teeth in a day. If a tooth has to come out first, the socket has to heal before a post goes in — usually two to four months. A finished tooth promised at the same appointment is a temporary you will be replacing later.
Two other honest limits. A 3D scan decides whether there is enough bone to hold a post; if there is not, general in-house bone grafting comes first and is quoted separately. And if a case needs more than this office does, you will be told plainly.
Here is the number, because almost nobody serving Carol Stream publishes one. A complete single implant — post, abutment and final crown — starts at $2,800. A new-patient exam with X-rays is $99. Financing is available.
| What | Price |
|---|---|
| New-patient exam and X-rays | $99 |
| Complete single implant — post, abutment, crown | from $2,800 |
| Extraction or general in-house bone grafting, if needed | quoted separately after the 3D scan |
| Full-arch and multiple-tooth cases | quoted per arch after the 3D scan |
What moves the total is what your jaw needs first, which is why the whole figure goes in writing at the consult and nothing is booked until you have seen it. Most PPO insurance accepted. Area ranges for full-arch work — labelled as area market data, not our quote — are on our full mouth restoration page.
If a lower denture lifts when you eat, a full implant case may be more than you need. Dr. Kim also places mini dental implants — narrow posts that stabilise a lower denture. They are a denture stabilisation option, not a substitute for a standard implant replacing a single tooth. See our dentures page.
Carol Stream sits directly south of us. Head north on Schmale Road — it becomes Bloomingdale Road at Army Trail Road and brings you nearly door to door. No North Avenue crawl, no tollway. About 10 minutes from most Carol Stream neighbourhoods.
We are at 183 S. Bloomingdale Rd., Suite #102, Bloomingdale, IL 60108, parking at the door. That matters more on an implant case than a cleaning: several visits over several months, plus the checkups after. For general and family care, see our Carol Stream dentist page.
The office speaks Vietnamese, Korean and Spanish — through the whole appointment, including the diagnosis, the options and the price, not just the front desk. An implant is not a decision to make through a relative translating on a phone.
Dr. Henry Kim, DMD — 183 S. Bloomingdale Rd., Suite #102, Bloomingdale, IL 60108. One dentist carries the case from the first scan to the final crown, so nothing is lost in a handoff. Monday 9–6, Wednesday 9–6, Thursday 10–6, plus alternating weekends; closed Tuesdays. More on his bio page and the new patients page.

We do — and it is the question worth asking, because a surgical office places the post but does not provide the dentistry that follows: the abutment, the crown and the checkups for the next twenty years. Here it is one office, one set of records, one bill.
No. We do not do teeth in a day. An extracted socket needs two to four months to heal before a post goes in, and the bone then needs three to six months to fuse before the final crown. You will not walk around with a visible gap, but the biology is not rushed.
Placement is under local anaesthetic and the jawbone has very few pain receptors, so most patients find it easier than they expected. A day or two of soreness is normally handled with over-the-counter pain relief.
The 3D cone-beam scan answers that before the plan is written, not mid-surgery. Thin bone gets general in-house bone grafting first, quoted separately, and heals before the post goes in.
The post is designed to be permanent and many last decades. The crown is the wearing part and may need replacing eventually. What shortens an implant is gum disease around it, which is why the cleanings and exams afterwards matter as much as the surgery.
An implant replaces the root and leaves the neighbouring teeth alone; a bridge means grinding down the two healthy teeth either side. The implant is usually the better long-term answer, but not in every mouth. If several teeth are gone, see full mouth restoration.
Most PPO plans are accepted and implant coverage varies widely. At the consult we tell you what your plan is likely to pay before you commit, and financing is available for the balance. Call (224) 520-8665 or use the contact form.
