Most people can live around one missing tooth for years, and that is the trap. The jawbone that held the root loses volume once the root is gone, the neighboring teeth drift into the space, and a settled bite starts to move. Replacing the tooth later then costs more than replacing it now, because the bone has to be rebuilt first.
An implant is the only option that puts a root back in the jaw. It is the right call for a single missing tooth you would rather not solve by grinding down two healthy neighbors for a bridge, for a partial or bridge that has failed, and for a lower denture that will not stay put. Teeth in a day is not something this office does. A tooth that has to be removed leaves a socket, and the socket closes on its own schedule, two to four months of it, before a post belongs in that space. A finished tooth offered on the day the tooth comes out is a temporary being described generously.
Two more we will not do: quote you before the scan, and revise a quote upward once treatment is under way. Where the scan shows too little bone to hold a post, general in-house bone grafting is done and priced first.

A lower denture that lifts is a different problem from a missing tooth, and it does not always need a full implant case. Dr. Kim also places mini dental implants, narrow posts that anchor a lower denture. No, and it is worth being wary of anyone who says otherwise. An emptied socket wants two to four months to close before a post is put into it, then three to six more while the bone grips that post, and only then does the permanent crown go on. Nothing in that sequence leaves you with a gap on show; it just cannot be compressed to suit a schedule.
The 3D cone-beam scan settles that before the plan is written rather than mid-surgery. Thin bone gets general in-house bone grafting first, quoted on its own, and heals before the post goes in.
Local anesthetic covers the appointment, and the jawbone carries very few pain receptors, so the reality tends to undershoot the dread. A couple of tender days afterwards is typical and usually answered with something off the pharmacy shelf.
Decades, for a great many people, because the post is built to stay put. The crown is the part that wears and may be replaced at some point, as crowns are. What ends an implant early is gum disease taking hold around it, so the cleanings and exams that follow are doing real work.
